Finding Normal

If I told you that I was once a policy analyst with a really great job, would you believe me? I believe in access beyond anything in my world. I wanted to title this article "Accessibility in action" but my computer desk is not set up in a manner in which my body can see the title line comfortably. what would you do if you could never be truly comfortable in a digital environment and you've lost your calling as a policy analyst? You're working from home, trying your hardest to recover from brain surgery that successfully stopped you from falling daily from epileptic seizures (you've just let out a defeated sigh because - damn I hate that word "epileptic" - it covers all manners of repugnant labelling you've faced bravely for 4 decades). Daily, you get up and wonder if you can manage to make it through the day. Not just mentally, but physically. You're grateful, sure. But does that matter after 1200 days? Is there karma anymore during a "polycrisis"? You've read the best graphic novel ever - it explains intersectionality of gender identity so eloquently the inner art historian in you lept for joy like the "11 pipers piping" you see regularly at Buchart Gardens... lucky you! An apartment in Victoria, BC. Isn't that fab?! Your boss used that word a lot. Too bad about that.
Nevermind. Would you ever be able to find yourself after you had to put down your guide dog? Your reason for walking. Your identity. What formed who you were. The possible reason you had created a career. Why you were interesting. Would the days ever be interesting again? Maybe. maybe not - AI is the new focus. All eyes are on what it's doing. A digital revolution is taking over the world. How would you fight back against a world in crisis? What lengths would you go to, to protect yourself from the uncertainty of tomorrow? Would you get trapped in an un=ending circle of doom-scrolling for your next hit of digital dopamine? Are you addicted to that "beep Beep" of your next text message?
I do. Is this the future we want to pursue, folks?
Take a break, with me.
The future will happen - no matter what.
